Audi TTS Coupe

Audi has release a new set of photos depicting the subtly facelifted 2011 TTS Coupe that will go on sale in the U.S. this fall. Cosmetic changes are limited to the revised single-frame grille with its aluminum-look horizontal double bars and the bumper, along with the addition of a new Panther Black exterior finish and a new two-tone (silver/black) option for the interior.

Unlike the base 2011 TTs, there are no mechanical upgrades for the TTS Coupe and its Roadster sibling that continue to be powered by the Audi's 2.0-liter TFSI with the larger turbocharger and other modifications that develops 272HP and 350Nm (258.15 lb-ft) of torque, the latter from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm.

Audi mention that the TTS Coupe with the optional S tronic sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds and goes up to a governed top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). With the S tronic, the Coupé consumes an average of 7.7 liters of fuel per 100 km which is equal to 30.55 mpg US.

The Ferrari 612 Scaglietti is being given an upgrade by non-other Novitec tuning house.

The 5.8-litre V12 engine gets a horsepower bump to 565 bhp from 530 bhp. Torque has increased to 609 Nm from 588 Nm. These new figures are achieved with the help of a “specially calibrated engine management system” along with Novitec’s high performance exhaust system. This means the Scaglietti’s 0 to 100 km/h time is down to just 3.9 seconds and top speed is 325 km/h.

Other additions include a new taillight design and a new tyre/wheel combination – 275/30 ZR 20 up front and 355/25 R 21 rears. Inside, one can customise the seats to their heart’s content. Leather seats can be custom tailored to body measurements and even the addition of lateral support and lowered seat positions for tall drivers can be done. Customers can go as far as choosing the thickness and material of their steering wheel. Like many supercars today, the steering will be flat-bottomed.

Here are the names of the three designers behind this Alfa Romeo Spider: Alberto Gaiani, Massimo Paparella and Michela Zedda. They're from the Politecnico di Milano University, and this is the result of a project in conjunction with Alfa.

If ever built, this Spider would likely have an FR layout, a power cloth top, and retain the trademark Alfa nose. From these shots, it looks like a Pontiac Solstice / Saturn Sky from Alfa, a higher-luxury would-be Miata hunter.

Samuel Codegoni, a teacher at the university, explains the design like this: "One of the main ideas that drove this project was to express a sense of tension in action. This decidedly moves away from the first production model takes as a reference: the iconic Duetto of the 1960's - the second reference was the Alfa Spider from the '90s, with its typical wedge-shaped profile."

Volvo SC90 Concept

The Volvo SC90 concept was panned by Nouphone J. Bansasine during his internship at Volvo in Summer 2007, and it was essentially a Volvo entry into the fray of “4-door coupes” being launched one after another by nearly all car manufacturers who ever use the word luxury in any of their marketing material.

In the designer’s imaginary world, the SC90 concept would go into production by the year 2015 against the Aston Martin Rapide and the Porsche Panamera, and according to current Volvo nomenclature it would most likely be called the Volvo C90. Perhaps it’s because it would probably take that long for anyone to find a Volvo entry in THAT segment sexy enough to purchase – 4-door coupes aren’t as practical as sedans and are usually a purely emotional choice.

Pininfarina Nido EV

Marking the celebrations of the its 80th anniversary, Pininfarina unveiled a new all-electric mini-car prototype called the Nido EV. It is an evolution of the original Nido concept that Pininfarina showed in 2004.

According to the Italian design house, the Nido EV is a "veritable laboratory designed both to explore the electrification of a small city car and to develop a modular floorpan."

The 2,905mm-long two seater prototype uses a tubular steel frame, but the final version will have a lighter aluminium space frame. Pininfarina claims that the structure was designed to be able spawn up to four different, completely electric or hybrid vehicles including two-seater, 2+2, pickup and van models.

This particular version of the Nido uses a rear-mounted electric engine producing 30kW to drive the rear wheels. Power is stored in a Zebra Z5 Ni-NaCl battery. When fully charged, it offers the Nido EV a driving range of 140 km or 87 miles.

Pininfarina says that the Nido EV can accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h (37mph) in 6.7 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 120 km/h (75mph).

Famous BMW tuner AC Schnitzer has toyed around with the BMW X6 M. Simply called the X6 M by Schnitzer.

Among the changes made to the already imposing X6 is the additon of carbon fibre engine styling, front spoiler, rear roof spoiler, rear wing, rear diffuser and design elements for the front skirt and chromed front grille. Optional bonnet vents with chromed centre webs are also available. The X6’s bonnet top made from carbon fibre with a plexiglas “panoramic window” so people can gawk at your engine. “Sports Trim” tailpipes complete the changes.

The standard X6 M is already 1.98 metres wide but Falcon wheel arches add an extra 40 mm on each side. You will have an option of 20, 22 or 23-inch rims to match them. Forged alloys are also available. Inside, the instrument panel conversion – 360 km/h speedo and rev counter with AC logos, white dials, red pointers and red lighting – is the highlight. The carbon trim and the AC Schnitzer steering wheel spokes in new “black Exclusiv” design and the silver bits are all in aluminium.
